Having a dry skin is one of the worst feeling ever.  The dryness of the skin would often lead to an itchy feeling which will leave your skin scaly and obviously dry.

Dry skin would normally give you wrinkled skin. Thus it will make you look older than you really are.

When we talk about dry skin, we should also consider the symptoms that lie within the lack of moisture in your body.  Dryness is characterized by the lack of hydration of moisturizer in your body.

So if  I have a dry skin does that mean that I don’t take enough water?

Well, this is one of the factors to consider.  Water intake is very important in all aspects of our health. If you consumed less water in a day then that would mean you are not taking enough hydration.

Lack of hydration will eventually lead to dry skin.  It gives out a very big impact on our health and our physical being as well. The recommended daily intake of water is at 8 to 12 glasses of water the whole day.  If you take less than 8 glasses, then probably you would become dehydrated.

Of course, you wouldn’t want to have dry skin. Dry skin is also characterized as sensitive skin.  It is sensitive in a way that a very gentle formula is needed for the skin to adapt and never react to chemicals and other harmful substances.

These are one of the most common symptoms of dry skin.  The worst feeling is the itchy feel.  It happens when you can no longer control the urge to scratch the part which gets itchy the most.  You scratch it to the point of bruising yourself.

Certain beauty products contain very harmful substances which can generally damage the skin and make it dry.  So be very careful with the kind of product you are using.  Many bleach and detergent contain high and strong substances which could dry out the skin.

So the next time you choose your detergents, check the label first and see if the substances will be gentler to your skin.

The weather condition can also be a great factor for dry skin.  Dry skin usually appears during the winter season.  When the temperature drops really low, expect your skin to go dry.

So whenever winter comes always be ready for something to moisturize your skin.  Applying lotion, moisturizers on your face or even petroleum jelly on the soles of your feet would give out a soothing feeling.

When the temperature gets low, it sometimes gives us a chapping lip which in effect is quite painful especially when eating something hot or sour.

  • Humidify the home

Humidifiers can bring moisture to the home.  It can make the air moist thus preventing your skin from becoming dry.

  • Apply oil-based moisturizer

Oil-based moisturizers are recommended to be used on winter time because heavy creams like these can seal in the moisture.  We need to trap in the moisture to keep the skin supple and prevent dryness.

  • Use Sunscreens

Even when you don’t see the sun often during winter, it is still highly regarded that we apply sunscreens and sunblock to protect our skin.

Just when you thought that you are safe to go out without the sun is really not safe at all.  The harmful rays of the sun are still working on the same intensity even when it is out or not.

Better be alert and on the lookout every time you exposed yourself outside.  Sun damage is very difficult to repair when broken.  Just apply a considerable amount and reapply it every two hours if you stay longer in the sun.

  • Avoid over showering

Since it is winter, there is no need to take frequent trips to bathrooms for a shower.  Limit your baths to not more than 10 minutes a day.

Frequent showers may often lead to the skin stripping off the essential nutrients it needs.  Once these nutrients are gone, the more your skin will go dry.

Weather conditions really have a great effect on our skin.  When the weather changes so do our skin too.  So we must be ready for every season change.  We should be ready anytime for whatever the climate may give us.

If dry skin is not prevented, it will result to a more serious condition like eczema and psoriasis.  Of course, we do not want that kind of scenario.  So you better take the precautionary measures before it is too late.
