Dark skin is the most unappealing trait of women.  Nowadays, women would like to have whiter skin.  This has been dictated upon by the different forms of media.

Media hype is one of the cause why most women would feel guilty or insecure about their body type and by the qualities they have.  They never find contentment with the God-given qualities they have.

Since media dictates that one of the standards of beauty is a fair complexion, most dark skin women would feel insecure.  So they would extract all means just to have that fair complexion.

Generally, there is nothing that women should be insecure of when it comes to their color.  We each have a color of our own.  Judging from what God had made in us, we can say that we are all beautiful and created in God’s image and likeness.

We should learn how to accept our own being and likeness because we are unique and talented.  Dark skin is not a curse, there are just some people who are born with a lighter color of skin.  This should not disappoint us.  But if you really feel like changing your skin color, there are plenty of ways to do so.

First, we need to know the different methods on how to avoid having a dark skin.  Knowing these simple tips would tell us that we can avoid further darkening of the skin.

How to Avoid Skin Darkening

  • Avoid the sun

We all know that the sun causes all kinds of skin disease and skin darkness.  Over exposure to the sun would lead to skin darkness.  This is the primary reason why we get our skin dark. To avoid the sunshine you may apply a sunblock to give you the protection you needed.

A sunblock with a high SPF will guarantee or protect your skin from the harmful UV rays.  You have to make sure that you reapply the sunblock every 2 to 4 hours if you have a lengthened sun exposure.

Even on days when the sun is not showing up, a sunblock is still necessary.  Most people think that when the sun is hiding they are free to go out without protection.  You got it all wrong. The harmful rays of the sun pass through the thick clouds and can still harm you even when you don’t visibly see the sun.

  • Moisturize the Skin

Although moisturizing may not really affect the skin complexion, it will help improve the quality of skin and less dry.  If the skin is properly moisturized the process of drying which may eventually lead to skin darkening may be minimized.

  • Apply Lemon Juice Extract

Lemon juice contains vitamin C which is also an exfoliant factor.  The exfoliant is when your skin rips off the dry layer of the skin and replaces it with new skin.  When the dead skin is replaced, the new skin will be exposed and thus will reveal a new complexion which is lighter and brighter.

You may rub the skin with the lemon juice and leave it on for about 15 minutes before washing it up and dry.  Do this regularly for about three times a week for 3 months continuous use.  Before you know it, you have a lighter and smooth complexion.

  • Papaya Extract

We all know the whitening effect of papaya extract on our skin.  There has been a lot of beauty products like soap and lotion which comes or is made from papaya extract.  The papain content of papaya makes its whitening formula extra effective to our skin.

Many people can attest to this effect.  Well, the natural whitening effect of papaya is really working, but you really have to do it regularly to get the effect that you wanted.  Most people would use the papaya bath soap to whiten their skin and it is working well.

We must admit that no matter how hard we wanted our skin to lighten if we are really born with a naturally dark skin, it would have been a little difficult.  We cannot really alter what nature has given us.

Not unless you are willing to spend much on expensive gluta injections which you have to take regularly also.  You shouldn’t miss a shot of gluta to make it really work for you.  It will literally drain your pocket for the expensive means and treatment.

  • Orange Peels

Just like the effect of lemon, oranges are also rich in vitamin C and ascorbic acid.  It has the same exfoliating effect like the lemon.  Only in oranges, you need to use the peels.  The peels when rubbing onto your skin and leave it on for 15 minutes or more will give off the same effect as the lemon.

So the next time you eat oranges, do not throw away the peels for it can bring beauty and flawless fair complexion to your skin.

There are so many options for skin whitening. If you want a more natural and less damaging impact on your skin, go to natural remedies.

There are the commercialized products which can also lead to skin exfoliation and whitenings like glutathione and hydroquinone.

When using these products you should be aware that it may bring a harmful effect to your skin.

  • Hydroquinone

It is one of the most common substances for astringents.  Astringents are known to be strong chemical substance for the skin exfoliation.  Once you use astringents with hydroquinone, you may be experiencing extreme peeling of the skin which may cause redness.

The peeling sometimes can become so painful that it stings and hurts.  Too much exfoliation of the skin is also not good.  We must do it moderately.  Too much peeling of the skin may lead to skin thinness.

If the skin becomes too thin, you are exposing your skin to further danger.  When the skin is already thin, the more harm it will give your skin.

It has less protection and covering from the sun.  Thus when you use hydroquinone, you need to make sure that your skin is properly protected from the sun.  You need to use umbrellas, scarfs, shades and other protective covering to ensure that your skin will not be damaged by the sun or the environment.
